Part-Time Travel Specialist 

The travel industry is an exciting field, and Discover Corps is re-inventing what it means to do authentic, off-the-beaten path, people-focused immersion travel through its volunteer vacations.

Discover Corps unlocks an immersive experience in communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America through a unique combination of volunteering, workshops, touring and sharing experiences with local people that leaves a lasting impact on the soul. Our partnership with the National Peace Corps Association grants us access to people and places that most travelers never visit.

We are looking for a Travel Specialist in our San Diego, California office. This position will start part-time, 25+ hours per week, as the first line of contact to the public. Initially, you will be responsible for handling large amounts of both incoming and outgoing calls for participants interested in booking a trip.

For the right candidate, this would then move into a full-time position. The responsibilities would grow significantly, including working with the traveler from the sales process to their return from the trip as well as our in-country staff. In addition to sales, you will be responsible for coordinating travelers and managing large amounts of trip information for a specific region of the world.

In order to be successful in this role, candidates must possess energy to become a winning salesperson, be extremely organized in order to manage large amounts of critical information and convey a warm, friendly tone of voice when speaking and answering a customer’s inquiries.

Minimum Requirements
• Three to five years telephone-based sales or customer service experience
• Proven fluency in Microsoft Office suite
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience traveling to developing countries
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility to work shifts, evenings and weekends
• Exceptional customer service skills

Ideal Candidates will also have
• One year of social media marketing experience
• Experience using CRM system such as Salesforce.com
• Proficient in spoken Spanish
• Professional experience in the travel industry
