Where to Next? A Sneak Peak of What’s to Come…

While travel slowed to a standstill for much of 2020, we here at Discover Corps continued to dream about the future. The elusive question that dominates the mind of any discerning, dedicated world traveler is “Where To Next?”. This question also circulated our conversations for months as we pondered the post-pandemic travel landscape. And what we kept coming back to time after time were those once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list destinations. You know, those places that sit at the top of your endless list of travel destinations often with the note “one day” mentally scribbled next to them.

So why are we thinking so big as the travel world continues to talk about a return of road trips and domestic travel? The answer is actually quite simple – the past year has taught us that time is valuable. There’s only a finite number of summers we have with our children before they take off to college. And for those without kids, putting things off for another year, or two, or three takes on a different connotation after our shared experience of 2020.

We are in the process of putting together two brand new “bucket list” trips that will take you to these far ends of earth in a truly Discover Corps fashion. Below is a sneak peak of what’s to come as well as a couple other destinations that we think should take up some space on your once-in-a-lifetime travel list.

Exclusive Discover Corps Sneak Peak: Egypt

We’ve been hard at work putting this program together for nearly a year (in fact, our Executive Director, Alex, was in Cairo right before the world closed down a year ago!). Between the pyramids, cruising the Nile River and navigating centuries old temples and tombs, Egypt is a truly a surreal place. We are also putting together visits with traditional Nubian villages and non-profit leaders in one of Africa’s most dynamic cities, Cairo. Fill out this form to get exclusive updates on the trip and information on our first departure in the Fall!

Exclusive Discover Corps Sneak Peak: Bhutan

This is truly the Shangri-La of travel and a place that we have had on our radar for years. We are just beginning to put this together, but we can tell you that our connections in the kingdom will provide unparalleled access to the world’s happiest nation. We are aiming to launch this in the Spring of 2022 so sign up here to get firsthand updates of the trip as they are released!

Uganda

There are only a little over 1000 mountain gorillas living in the world despite aggressive conservation efforts. In fact, the bulk of financial support for preserving these amazing creatures comes from tourism to Uganda’s Bwindi National Park. The experience of trekking through the Equatorial jungle with a team of porters and guides in search of these gorillas is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Learn more here.

The Galapagos Islands

When Charles Darwin stepped foot on the Galapagos Islands, he proclaimed that this is truly a “little world unto itself”. And that is what you’ll experience, a world of pristine nature, unique wildlife and a slow-paced island lifestyle. Along the way, we’ll take some time to learn and help the folks protecting the impressive giant tortoise. Check it out here.

Galapagos family vacation

Kenya

There are a lot of choices when it comes to an African safari, but Kenya remains (and we expect it to continue indefinitely as) the classic safari experience. The country’s strict conservation efforts combined with the breadth of wildlife dotting the Serengeti makes Kenya the bucket list safari destination. Add to that the unbelievable luxury tented camps and people that we connect with working to protect these creatures and you have one of the most unique ways to explore this country. Learn more here.

Regardless of where your travels take you to next, we encourage you to keep dreaming and making that bucket list a reality!
