The Place and The People
South Africa is home to a number of innovative wildlife conservation projects. Nowhere is this more evident than in Somkhanda Game Reserve outside of Durban. One of the country’s largest community-owned reserves, Somkhanda is home to large populations of white and black rhino, leopard & elephants. Along with leading conservation organizations including the World Wildlife Fund, Somkhanda aims to restore this habitat into pristine land for wildlife conservation.
However, due to the dense vegetation and hilly terrain of the park, it is difficult for the small team to gather much-needed information on the area’s wildlife. That is where you come into play – to help one of South Africa’s largest hubs of leopard and endangered rhino compile essential data on the well-being of these fragile creatures.
