Thailand – Cultural Kaleidoscope

Get an up-close look into a distant kingdom where incense fills the air, monks dot the landscape, and remnants of the oldest monarchy in the world are on display.

The Place and The People

Lush mountain landscapes surround the traditional-style buildings and golden spires of Chiang Mai. This Thai city is the cultural capital of the country — its streets are filled everything from carts selling pad thai to monks shuffling to the temple and monkeys dangling from treetops. Visit the fresh market to source ingredients for a meal, chat with local youth, and journey to rural hill tribe communities to talk to village elders about how they maintain their unique and traditional way of life.

What You'll Do

In Thailand, speaking English is essential for getting a good job. The traditional Thai education system, however, emphasizes rote learning. Our travelers have a simple mission: to make learning English fun! Through a combination of educational games, tutoring, conversation, and arts & crafts, you can inspire a child to enjoy learning English — and improve their chances for a brighter future.

What You'll See

Venture into the hustle and bustle of Thailand’s authentic street markets, learn to cook iconic (and scrumptious) Thai dishes, and meet with Buddhist monks to learn about Buddhism in Thai society. Visit a nursery for baby elephants and hike to Wat Doi Suthep, the ornate mountaintop temple that is surrounded by Hmong hill tribe villages. Take in the natural beauty of Northern Thailand’s rolling green mountains and smiling people.
