Is Discover Corps a non-profit? Are these trips tax deductible?

Is this Tax Deductible? Because these trips are essentially vacations and you will not be spending the majority of your time volunteering, these trips do not qualify as deductible. This is additionally supported by the following key sentence in the IRS rules “Generally, you can claim a charitable contribution deduction for travel expenses necessarily incurred while you are away from home performing services for a charitable organization only if there is no significant element of personal pleasure, recreation, or vacation in the travel.”  You can click IRS Publication 526 for the full text (see page 5).
