“I saw what real life was: no traffic, no crowds, and realized that the city is not for me. Plus, the ocean is just too far away.”
“Discover Corps groups are very diverse, which I love. It’s great to work with different types of people and share the place you love. It’s really cool to work with kids, because everything is new and exciting, and it reminds you to as an adult to keep the ability to be surprised by things.”
“Seeing all sorts of whales, including a blue whale, listening to the humpbacks while scuba diving, feeling like you’re a part of their society.”
“Norway, sea kayaking trips in the artic circle, from late May – end of September, the past few years.
Future goals include visiting antarctica, explore the adriatic sea–went to Croatia and would like to explore a bit further south. The food was good, incredible beaches, much more to explore there. Never been to Asia!
His love of the ocean brought him to Todos Santos, where he has worked running tours for over a decade. In the summer, when temperatures can reach into the 110s in Baja, Axel finds respite leading kayaking tours in Norway, returning to his home in Todos Santos when Baja resumes its perfect fall and winter climate.
