Legal, Immersive Travel to Cuba
Discover Corps offers a legal way to travel to the island of Cuba. We operate under the Support for the Cuban People license which ensures that you are traveling with an itinerary that will help support Cuban micro-entrepreneurs. Visit our Cuba FAQs page for more information.
Our Impact
Cuba is a nation of vibrant music, color, feeling and tastes. While the Buena Vista Social Club popularized Cuban music, and Anthony Bourdain brought its restaurants to television, the island has a long tradition of supporting art and culture. Its musicians have fueled the global music scene and its artists continue to produce world-class paintings.
To achieve our purpose in supporting the Cuban people, we’ll connect with Cubans and learn about the island’s evolving culture, both in the alleyways of Havana and further afield in the stunning colonial towns of Trinidad and Cienfuegos. We’ll also delve into Cuba’s culinary scene, visiting family-run, or paladar, restaurants.
Where You’ll Stay
During your trip, you’ll have the unique opportunity to stay in casas particulares, which literally translates as “private homes”. Casas are essentially family-run bed & breakfasts (think AirBnB’s with private breakfast in the morning). Families invest in making sure their houses are up to international quality standards, and they greet you with Cuban hospitality – but also give you the privacy and comfort you desire.
While houses vary in style from eclectic to classical, they all provide a comfortable glimpse into Cuban life. Our portfolio of casas particulares are hand selected with prime locations that will put you right in heart of the action and have private bathrooms, air conditioning & a fresh breakfast each morning.
Itinerary Overview
This 8-day journey begins in Havana, the capital city of fascinating history and charming architecture. From there, progress east to the colonial town of Trinidad, where you can soak in the vibrant arts scene. This town is so unique that it’s earned UNESCO’s designation as a World Heritage Site.
For history buffs, a stop at the Bay of Pigs is essential for viewing the past through the Cuban perspective. This trip even includes a visit to the town of Cienfuegos — giving you an opportunity to meet with community groups and local residents so you can gain insight into life in a small Cuban town.
Optional post-trip extensions
Discover Corps’ post-trip extensions allow you to extend your experience beyond the core itinerary and explore unique corners of the destination.
