Galapagos – Amazon Basin Extension

Compliment your experience in the Galapagos Islands with a journey deep into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest.

Explore the Amazon with expert guides scouting for monkeys, tropical birds and river-dwelling piranhas. Relax at a luxurious 5-star eco-resort shrouded by the rainforest canopy on the banks of the Amazon River.

Our Purpose

The Amazon Rainforest is truly the life spring of the planet – the source of the water we drink, air we breathe and weather we experience. Stretching across nine South American nations, the Amazon is a place of tranquil beauty, extreme biodiversity and lush rainforest landscape. Hundreds of species of tropical birds take to the skies, waters teem with exotic fish and monkeys hop between trees in the canopy above.

Considered the most biodiverse spot on earth, Yasuni National Park is the sliver of the Amazon that we will call home over the next four days. From the comfort of a luxury 5-star eco-resort, venture into the heart of Earth’s most famous rainforest.

What You'll Do

After returning from the Galapagos Islands, spend an evening in Quito before taking the short one-hour flight into the Amazon Rainforest. Upon arrival, we’ll meet our guide and take a canoe ride deep into the jungle to our 5-star eco-resort on the banks of the Amazon River. Over the next 4 days, mix active mornings and afternoons exploring everything the rainforest has to offer with relaxing down time at the lodge and its spa. Each excursion will feature two guides – a licensed naturalist guide who has extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of the Amazon as well as a native guide that brings ancestral knowledge and expertise to the group. Whether it’s climbing 120 feet above the forest on an observation tower or searching for howler monkeys from a boat, this will be the experience of a lifetime.

What You'll See

Whether by foot or boat, each day will be a memorable adventure into the Amazon Rainforest. Take a canoe out in the day to fish for pirahna and spot wildlife high up in the trees including monkeys, parrots and, if you’re lucky, sloths. Then return by night to gaze at the stars and spot wild caiman relaxing by the river banks. Hike along jungle trails searching for medicinal plants with your indigenous guide and venture to a site where hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to feed each day. Spend an afternoon with a local tribal community to experience life in the Amazon. Each night, return to our luxury eco-resort and fall asleep to the sounds of howling monkeys and insects in the distance.

Traveler's Journal

“Extending our journey into the Amazon rainforest was the best decision we made on this trip. After a little over a week in the Galapagos Islands, we had just enough time to rest up in Quito before seeing the other side of the country. I cannot explain how unique it was to step foot into the Amazon jungle. The sounds, smells and overall feeling of being there is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
