Located just across the Adriatic Sea from Italy, Croatia is often referred to as Europe’s largest natural park, boasting 1,246 islands, unforgettable views, and a rich array of marine wildlife. On land, almost 10% of Croatia is made up of nature parks and reserves, with wonderful Gothic and Renaissance buildings set amongst rolling hills that rival Tuscany. Dubrovnik is a city home to medieval architecture and ancient walls, fabulous beaches, and sights you’ll never forget.

What You'll Do

Experience the beautiful island of Mljet as you depart Hvar and head out on this extension. Enjoy a relaxed hike and optional boat trip to nearby St. Mary Island, one of Croatia’s largest national parks, to hike peaks for better views. Mljet is an island filled with bays, caves, steep coves, and salty lakes for those who need a dip in the water. After traveling to Dubrovnik by boat, meander through the streets of this historic city on a guided tour, taking in the ancient city walls. You will have a full free, unguided day to shop, hike, swim, or even take a Game of Thrones tour.

What You'll See

From a distance, the red-roofed buildings of Dubrovnik make a striking contrast with the deep turquoise waters that fringe the coastal city. Up close, the historic nature of Dubrovnik comes into sharp relief. With winding lanes and a medieval Old Town enclosed by ancient walls,
all overlooked by dramatic Mount Srd, the city was the perfect choice for the setting of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones. Ultra-fresh seafood, charming museums and plenty of activities on the water await here.

Experience a gorgeous 4-star hotel with a seafront setting overlooking Lapad beach and the blue-green Adriatic. With a luxury spa, fantastic dining options, and the nearby tree-lined promenade Uvala, you are close to the city center with plenty to do for a day out in Dubrovnik.

Optional Post-Trip Extension

Hike to the tops of gorgeous green hills for a quiet afternoon exploring the beauty of Southern Croatia. When you’re not on the water kayaking or swimming, meander through the streets as you gaze up at the magnificent ancient walls of Old Town.

Take a Game of Thrones tour, explore the fresh coffee and wine, and visit the charming shops that make Croatia a must-visit destination for those who love to step into a new world.

I wanted to see as much of Croatia as possible and do something different. I truly felt like my contributions to the Blue World Institute made an impact on the small local community of Losinj and a big impact to the dolphin population. While this was the highlight for the family, the extension to Dubrovnik was also absolutely amazing. The beauty we witnessed throughout the trip, both in the unexplored Northern Islands and then the more popular Dalmatian Coast, was breathtaking and something I feel incredibly privileged to have seen. Truly a trip we will never forget!

Double Occupancy Price. If you are traveling alone, we will match you with another traveler of the same gender to keep costs down. Or, you can opt for a single room supplement (below).
Children’s pricing applies to travelers 16 years old and younger sharing a room with an adult
Single Room Supplement = $395. You are required to pay the SRS if we are unable to find a suitable roommate.
